Principal

Susan Robinson

ARAD, Advanced Teaching Dip, RAD Examiner

Susan Robinson won a scholarship to Elmhurst Ballet School and subsequently to the Royal Ballet School, training under such distinguished teachers as Dame Ninette de Valois.

After graduating Miss Robinson danced professionally for a number of years, including touring many of the German and Dutch Opera Houses with the Wuppertal Ballet Company.

On returning to England Miss Robinson taught professional dancers at the London Dance Centre in Floral Street before obtaining the Royal Academy of Dance’s Advanced Teaching Diploma and founding The Susan Robinson School of Ballet in 1975.

In 1976 she was appointed as an Examiner for The Royal Academy of Dance.

Teachers

Catharine Lewis

LCDD(1st Class) RAD RTS (Teaching Certificate), AISTD (Dip) Modern, AISTD Ceccetti, ISTD Ballet & National

Cathy studied at The London College of Dance (formerly the ISTD College) achieving Advanced in ballet, modern and national dance and graduating with a 1st Class Diploma.

She then taught ballet and modern for two years in Greece following which she returned to The Susan Robinson School of Ballet in 1993, where she had been a former pupil.

Gretchen Kiefer

BBO Diploma in Dance Teaching and Level 5 Certificate in Further Education Teaching (distinction), MRAD

Dancing and teaching for over 25 years, Gretchen is a former professional dancer and founder member of Island Moving Company (USA).

She did numerous tours, performances and out reach programmes with Island Moving Company, and also performed with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and several Colorado ballet companies. Gretchen also choreographed for Island Moving Company, Little Theater of the Rockies and the University of Northern Colorado.

She has taught dance at the Newport Academy of Ballet, University of Northern Colorado and currently teaches for the Woking Dance Space and the British Ballet Organization.

Vicky Terrington

AISTD

Vicky began dancing from the age of 3 at Dance Unlimited in Cheam. After finishing school Vicky continued her dance training at the Centre of Performing Arts College in Charlton. Here she trained for three years gaining a performance diploma as well as her teaching qualifications with The Imperial Society of the Teachers of Dancing.

After leaving college Vicky spent the next 7 years traveling the world and performing for Costa Cruise Lines. There she worked up to the positions of Dance Captain and Production Manager. Vicky settled back in the UK a few years ago and is enjoying returning to teaching.

Jade Souter

Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies RAD

Jade received her training with Miss Sue from the age of three, and has recently complete her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the RAD.

Laura Grant

Laura started dancing at the age of four and quickly earned a name for herself on the ballroom and latin dance circuit. By the age of 11 she was part of the Great British ballroom and latin team, representing Britain all over the world.

She later went on to train professionally at The Centre of Performing Arts College, Rochester and has since been performing in a variety of locations across the UK for various different companies.
